I am sad, but I have to inform you, that the exhibition did take place, that the dog was sick and tied up to the wall there for at least one day, and that the dog actually died in the end.
Even if the "artist" deleted all his recent (compromising) statements (as he obviously uses the crack and marijuana from his exhibition also at home), we are in contact with the Costa Rican and Nicaraguan reporters, who have written about the "exhibition". We were assured that the dog is dead, as cruel and unbelievable it may seem to so many of the people.
This page was created to provide you with (non-commercial) first hand information, with background data, addresses of related no spam pages and accurate, simple and accessible for everybody coverage of the happenings.
Here are (again) some of the basic data:
- The boycott-petition was started by Mr.Jaime Sancho - jaime.sancho@gmail.com, his page is http://www.ea6gk.org/. If you need the most fresh, original, first hand information, please visit his page or send him an e-mail :-)
- Mr.Jaime Sancho, who is a member of several Spanish based animal welfare organizations, started the petition after 100% reliable and serious coverage of the happenings in the Spanish based media. The most known article - from the biggest and most serious online newspaper in Costa Rica - can be found here: http://www.nacion.com/...aldea1263590.html
- Right after the coverage in the Spanish based media, several animal welfare organizations protested against this cruelty and the fact, that the "artist" won the first prize and was chosen a representative of Costa Rica at the Bienal Centroamericana Honduras 2008.
- Additionally, here is (again) the link to the blog, who posted the first photos, the blog owner, Mr.Rodrigo Peñalba, is another real and existing witness of the happenings (but not willing to contribute, as he did not help the dog, and now afraid of harassment): http://www.marcaacme.com/...habacuc
- PETA was already informed days ago, alongside with other major animal welfare and animal rights organizations, by dozens of concerned and angry real people. According to the most recent answers, PETA is already involved and investigating the case, but this needs of course time. If you would like to alert PETA yourself, here is the contact form: http://www.peta.org/about/c-email_peta.asp
- You can also add a comment to the PETA blog, as direct contact: http://blog.peta.org/
- If you have any doubts, or, worse, if you prefer to spread around misinformation around the internet - but without even trying to check for background information or to contact the involved people (this blog is one of the nr.1 hits on Google in this case, along with the petition, which contains the e-mail address of Mr.Jaime Sancho) - please try to calm down first, read the here provided information carefully, and then act.
- It is not important anymore how many "follow-ups", real or false "Guillermos" and spammers try to find audience in places like MySpace, Facebook, Livejournal, Digg etc. They can only gain attention, if you choose not to read first hand information carefully and believe in things, which are absolutely unproven.
